TUMSAO News: In threshold of 5^th integrated ceremony that is held on 21th July, we have interviewed with Professor Bahadori.

Professor Bahadori, these days alumni office is preparing for integrated ceremony, please explain us about its antiquity a little bit.

In each life there are memorable days that families and classmates are collected, about 5 years ago we decided to hold an integrated ceremony in Tehran University medical Sciences for two reasons: First of all Its importance and its people aspect and second reason was familiarity of alumni with each other. Around the world, there is this ceremony. Of course, this celebration is not conflicted with private celebrations of each school and if they want, they can hold a private celebration for themselves.

Please explain about ceremonies that were held and this year celebration?

Alumni office through 2012 – 2015 has held 4 integrated courses and this year will hold 5^th integrated ceremony will be held. For holding this ceremony, there are 2 great problems: first of all not having right place, second holding time; because weather conditions has changed program that was held in open space. Anyway this year, celebration will be held in open space, determination of right place has been done fortunately.

What’s this celebration message?

This is useful performance and alumni office tries to hold this ceremony for reaching three aims: 1. to express to Iranian society that what extent TUMS has been able to train persons for health service; 2. establishing a close relation among different schools, because of established differences among schools must disappear and all of them are serving people, 3. Showing people, taxes that are paid as budget to university hasn’t been paid in vein. Totally such activities are important and I hope such activities will be repeated through other Universities.

What’s your opinion that how other Universities can benefit from this integrated ceremony?

Whatever Universities are coordinated more and more with their students, greatness will become more visible. A part relates to Alumni, but most of this ceremony relates to university, because it could success to train specialists, one of benefits of integrated ceremony is coordination and sympathy among faculty and students. They can relate to each other in future and alumni office can establish this relation. One of other benefits of these celebrations is presence of students’ families and we expect to absorb donors’ support to promote university equipment.

What’s your recommendation about alumni cooperation for holding this ceremony?

President and management committee of University were interested, when we proposed that to former president of University he accepted to cooperate and at now University president has special attention to this celebration an support;

Of course students’ cooperation in holding this ceremony is important; usually graduation celebrations are dividing to two parts: one part relates to university: providing appropriate place and parking facilities ….and another part relates to alumni and that is providing content until all of alumni and their families enjoy it.

What’s your opinion about Presence of special groups in this ceremony?

As end of high school celebration is more important than end of school, supplementary education is most important. Unfortunately social movements like this ceremony are weak in Iran. Around the world great Universities, have this ceremony and alumni from high level have a significant presence and unfortunately this cultural ceremony hasn’t been established in Iran Yet.

How can we make culture?

First of all, this work must be repeated it requires patience until better condition. Secondly country’s culture must pay attention more to higher education because we have great scientists in Iran and we must account of them, unfortunately they haven’t solidarity.

It must be explained that 5^th integrated ceremony will be held in 21^st July from 17 to 22 in physical education of Tehran University in Karegar shomali, after 15^th Avenue.
