Dr. Seyed Mansour Getmiri, Head of the University Nephrology Research centre, referring to the university's approach to serving society, said: "The issue of a comprehensive university has been raised for a long time." A university is successful when it has meny efforts and as it strives within the frontiers of knowledge, it has the task of advancing the scientific convoy; It serves a more important purpose and that the product of the university is at the service of society. For this reason, the university must monitor the needs of the community and deliver the response to the needs to the community as soon as possible, and open the nodes of the community and raise the level of the community.

The head of the Nephrology Research Center said that the main goal of Tehran University of Medical Sciences is to promote community health and said: to achieve this, the university should be sensitive to events in the community on a  regular basis examine it carefully and in the shortest time Eliminate the event that leads to the injury.

Completing this part of his speech, he added: "In the case of Corona, we were able to overcome this crisis with high speed and less casualties, and the flag bearers of this matter were universities." The head of the University Nephrology Research Center, in another part of his speech, referring to the prevalence of kidney diseases in Iran, said: "Chronic kidney disease is one of the most common diseases, affecting about 10 to 15% of the population." About 90% of people are unaware of their illness.

Emphasizing the role of the university in raising public awareness, Dr. Getmiri said: "In the first step, the community should be sensitive to the diagnosis of this disease, and it is the responsibility of the university to raise this awareness at the community level so that cases of chronic kidney disease can be diagnosed sooner."

He considered diabetes and blood pressure as two important factors in causing chronic kidney diseases and said: "This is while blood pressure is also known as a hidden disease, so people who are not aware of their disease should be aware and sensitive to their disease."

Dr. Getmiri considered the interaction of the media with the university to be effective in increasing public awareness and said: "I hope with the help of the media we will be on the path to be sensitive to the two high risk factors of diabetes and blood pressure, which are the most important causes of death and disability." And increase physical activity to reduce chronic kidney disease in the community.
