I hope you have a year full of blessings, mercy. I predict that 1401 will be a good year for Tehran University of Medical Sciences with the financial opening that we will have and many problems will be solved.

6-month report of the President of the University

In the six months that I have been serving the university, we have developed a four-year operational plan, and in this regard, the vice chancellors and most of the hospitals and other centres of the university presented their four-year plan. The program-oriented movement is formed in the university so that nothing can be done without a plan.

In the field of construction, many of the university's semi-finished projects, some of which lasted about 16 years; Including Islamshahr Hospital was resumed. With the good credit provided for the Islamshahr project, I hope this hospital will be completed in next year and a half. The International Neuroscience Center (known as the Professor Samiei Project) on the Hemmat Highway has reopened after 7-8 years, and with the negotiations that have taken place, 49% of the project belongs to the university, in return for which it will help complete the project. Project Shariati 2 is accelerating. Mehdi Clinic and Children's Medical Centre 2 (Hakim) will be opened next year.

Scientific city of Shahid Soleimani with an area of ​​18-17 hectares and if the oghaf Organization agrees to add another 10 hectares to this complex, we will have the largest technology park that has the capacity to establish a thousand start-up companies.

In terms of student welfare, 8 large dormitory units on Ferdows Boulevard with a capacity of more than 2,000 students are on the agenda, which, God willing, will meet the future needs of the university in this area. In the international arena, Sabtin University has been established as an international branch of Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Karbala. In this regard, the former administrators of the university also had efforts that were not successful and in this period, with the help of the cooperation of the University Vice Chancellor, the first group of medical students will be admitted to this university from Mehr 1401 (October 2022). The financing of this project is the responsibility of Hosseini's citizen and its scientific management is the responsibility of the university. This project will be an honor for the country and a good source of currency for the university. In this regard, I thank the international colleagues of the university, especially Dr. Ayati. In the field of research, we try to develop research based on justice and based on the real needs of society. The focus of university research should not be based solely on quantitative indicators, but research should be useful to society and be based on solving a problem of society. The fact that the number of articles by people varies greatly, and some are tens or hundreds of times more than others, indicates a kind of injustice and the lack of a proper macro-research program. The overgrowth of one centre and the non-growth of other centres show that instead of a central program, tastes have been done based on the central person and the political influence of the people, which is not desirable.

Of course, I do not intend to undermine the hard work of university researchers, but it is the university's job to announce research needs so that faculty members can conduct research based on the priorities and important topics by the university, and researchers are free to express their creativity in any field. It is not true that research or any other work depends on the tastes of individuals or the needs of a particular group, and it is part of the university's programs to correct this approach. In the field of education, improving the quality of general practitioners' education is on the agenda. Due to the fact that interns and tenants did not receive good practical training, Ziaian and Baharloo hospitals became more active. I hope that interns  can play their role well and learn to be real doctors by attending the outpatient clinics and other medical centres.

This is an important issue that has unfortunately been overlooked and needs to be addressed. In the field of treatment, good programs are being carried out by Dr. Nateghi. The working hours and activities of the faculty members are counted and reported to them in the form of transcripts. This is in order to identify capable and compassionate people on the agenda. We consider it our duty to identify and encourage people who work hard for the university. We all have to work for the university, and if anyone fails in terms of working hours or quantity and quality of work, he owes it to the university. For the salary we receive, we must be useful to the university. If we want our country to develop, we must do something to turn the average of 22 minutes of useful work in Iran into hours of useful work, and this is a national, religious and moral duty of all of us, and we have a plan for that at the university.

Justice, avoiding corruption and paying attention to honesty are the priorities of the university. We will seriously pursue the cultural category.

In the field of culture, instead of stereotyping, it is necessary to spread ethics in society. We must emphasize the instructive and mentoring role of prominent moral professors of the university, such as the late Professor Yalda, and move in the direction that our students, in addition to science, ethics, humanity, purity, forgiveness, chivalry and all good qualities, spread it. Medicine is not only the treatment of the sick, but the doctor must also be wise. Other fields of nursing, midwifery, paramedical and rehabilitation are also very important for the university. The role of the nurse in the patient's bedside is very sensitive and important, so it should be planned for all disciplines. During this period, the faculties of nursing and midwifery, paramedical and rehabilitation had a good cooperation with the university, and other faculties also have good coordination and cooperation. Congratulations again on the New Year and I hope that in the new year, we can help each other create a better environment for the university and take more big steps.
