Awarding the Florence Nightingale medal to Dr. Seyed Nasser Emadi, a dermatologist and faculty member of Razi Hospital

The Florence Nightingale Medal was awarded to Dr. Seyed Nasser Emadi, a dermatologist at Razi Hospital, for his valuable efforts in serving patients in African countries.

 Dr. Seyed Nasser Emadi, a faculty member of Razi Hospital Dermatology Department, was awarded the Florence Nightingale World Medal for his membership in the team of Médecins Sans Frontières in Africa and the Middle East and his work in helping war and natural disaster victims, as well as public health and nursing education.

Since 1912, the Florence Nightingale Medal Commission has been composed of the International Federation of Red Crescent Societies, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and the International Council of Physicians and Nurses. Accordance to some special criteria for example innovative measures to improve the quality of treatment or education, it awards the Medal of Honor every two years to individuals with the above criteria.

 

Dr. Emadi, who studied dermatology at the University of Tehran, is now a faculty member and associate professor at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, and provides services such as volunteer medicine in Iran, Iraq, Kenya, Tanzania, Somalia, Ghana, Nigeria, Burundi, Africa. It includes the south, Zimbabwe and Afghanistan.

Dr. Emadi was previously introduced as the best doctor in the country in 2015, at the same time as Doctor's Day, due to providing medical services in deprived areas of Iran and also to the refugees of the ISIL attack in Iraqi Kurdistan.

 

On Sunday, May 9, 1401, at the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Iranian Red Crescent, the President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, along with the leaders of the Lebanese, Kuwaiti and Turkish national societies, praised Dr. Emadi for his humanitarian efforts.

Dr. Emadi was also awarded the Florence Nightingale Medal for his valuable efforts in providing services to patients in African countries, as well as the selected volunteers of the Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran awarded.
