Dr. Qenaati: Universities and organizations have an important role in establishing, monitoring and expanding professionalism

In this seminar, the president of the university emphasized maintaining the sanctity of medicine by fulfilling medical duties, maintaining their professorship, maintaining health and establishing justice in health in society.

5th seminar of Professionalism in health services begun in 23rd February with cooperation of medical service organisation and scientific, cultural foundation of professor Bahadori.

Dr. Ghenaati president of TUMS said:'one honour of alumni office is establishing cultural, scientific foundation of Dr. Bahadori for University promotion and activities such as professionalism seminar in health Services.

He continued: "The issue of professionalism is an important issue that if we do not pay attention to it, we have neglected it because medicine is mixed with Professionalism."

Of course, all professions must have commitment, but commitment in medicine is very double. Dr. Qanati added: "If a doctor is not committed to the issues that will be discussed in this seminar, many disasters may occur in society." While fulfilling a Professionalism can help solve society's problems.

The president of the university said: when a doctor is active in the university in addition to medicine, his task will be dual. Professionalism with the patient is one aspect and his commitment as a professor and teacher towards students is a double commitment. Because students follow the example of their professors, and in addition to learning scientific issues, the professor must also teach professionalism.

Dr. Qanati stated that professionalism is not a separate matter and is a continuous issue mixed with the duties of professors. They have and should pay attention to this role.

He emphasized the commitment of a physician to the patient and his secret and said: a committed physician to improve the health of society should update his knowledge, not receive a fee outside the medical tariff, maintain his dignity and look at medicine spiritually And to have a human being view, if neglected, will cause great harm to society.

Dr. Qanati continued: "Unfortunately, in our society today, there is a lack of education in the field of professionalism or in other words, the establishment of professionalism in people, part of which goes back to professors." Maybe the training was not done properly and maybe we were not created that if we were created there would be no concern today.

"Unfortunately, sometimes we see a doctor whose job it is to protect the patient's life with full knowledge and behaviour," he said.

Be appropriate and take care of health system issues. Although the number of these people is small, but this number is also a cause for concern. The President of the University emphasized: A committed physician can be active in maintaining public health in addition to his educational or therapeutic duties and promote people's health, for example, in losing weight and preventing people from developing blood pressure or diabetes or other Important issues that threaten the health system to provide valuable services.

Dr. Qanati said: The health system is a sacred system and it is different from other jobs and this sanctity must be preserved. I hope that this seminar will pay more attention to these issues and provide practical solutions to solve these problems.

He also stressed the need to maintain the health of physicians and medical staff to provide better services and said: "Protecting physical and mental health is part of the professionalism. Exercise, proper sleep and planning for all daily activities are necessary for a physician."

Dr. Qanati called pseudo-science another important issue that has bothered the medical community and considered it necessary to pay attention to this important issue, adding: "Some people by doing traditional medicine, Iranian medicine or Islamic medicine (there is no basis for Islamic medicine) from People are abusing us. We have to find a way to correct this process because the health of the community is a priority for the medical staff. Referring to the words of the Holy Prophet who said, "I have come to bring human beings to the utmost morality and humanity,"

He said: "Following the Holy Prophet, I hope we can fulfil our duty and mission as a physician." To do that is to maintain the health of the community.

In the last part of his speech, he emphasized the establishment of justice in the health of society and said: "After the victory of the Islamic Revolution, we have made significant progress in the scientific field, for example in the field of liver transplantation, kidney transplantation and other transplants, advanced heart surgeries.", cerebral vascular interventions, types of intracerebral stents, modern treatment of cerebral aneurysm, cancer, cancer drugs and medical technology, but we still have problems in the fair distribution of health in the country.

The president of the university pointed out: the establishment of justice is also part of the duties of a doctor and the duty of a doctor is not just to study. We physicians all have a social mission, and more than half of that social and moral mission and in other words, the physician is a sage.
