USERN Congress

First TUMS alumni meeting in European branch was held in parallel with 4th USERN congress in Budapest, Hungary (8-10 November, 2019). Also, Prof. Bahadori, the president of alumni office, Dr. Gatmiri, vice president of alumni office, Dr. Jafarian, former president of the university, Prof. Rosivall, former president of Semmelweis University, Dr. Mirzahosseini, local manager of alumni office in European branch, Dr. Razmpa, head of alumni office at Imam Khomeini Hospital, and a number of TUMS alumni and university students living abroad attended in this meeting. 

Organ Transplant Workshop

This report also points to a joint organ transplant workshop on the second day of the USERN congress by lecture of Dr. Jafarian, Professor and Head of the Liver Transplant Department at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, and Dr. Gatmiri, Associate Professor of Nephrology at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. He explained that Iranian model of living-donor kidney transplant as a dominant model changed to brain-dead donor kidney transplant at present.

TUMS Alumni Meeting

In this meeting that was held in European branch of alumni office. Prof. Bahadori greeted audiences, and thanked Prof. Rosivall, former president of Semmelweis University, for his valuable collaboration in establishment of European branch of alumni office. Also, he appreciated Dr. Mirza Hosseini, TUMS alumni and local manager of Avicenna, for establishment and advancement of plans in European branches of alumni office. 

Moreover, Prof. Bahadori emphasized the importance of maintaining the communication of TUMS alumni with their university. He said: "Maintaining this communication is important not only for the development and promotion of alumni but also for the promotion of the university level, so it is necessary for both parties strive to maintain this communication." 

Then Dr. Gatmiri, vice president of alumni office of TUMS, greeted the audiences and thanked Prof. Rosivall and Dr. Mirzahosseini for their efforts. He also appreciated Dr. Jafarian for his assistance in advancing the plans of alumni office during his tenure in the TUMS University. Afterwards, he presented some slides for introduction of Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Alumni Office.

In addition, Dr. Jafarian, former president of the university, talked about the role of the university in establishing the alumni office and its positive effect on promoting the university. He also mentioned that the characteristics and status of Prof. Bahadori and the influence of his personality on the development of activities in alumni office, and urged the new generation to consider Prof. Bahadori and his productive life as a role model in their life.

In the other part of this meeting, Dr. Razmpa, Head of alumni office at Imam Khomeini Hospital, also explained about opening Master's House in the university hospitals and suggested plans for the presence of retired professors at Master's House.

Furthermore, Dr. Mirzahosseini welcomed the attendees especially Prof. Bahadori, and the accompanying delegation for participating in TUMS alumni meeting in Europe. He also noted the importance of maintaining Iranian ties with their country, and emphasized the main role of international branch in this regard. He also suggested that alumni office organize the second alumni meeting in 2021. Dr. Mirzahosseini also suggested that this meeting will be hold with participation of students in different European countries, Iranian living abroad, and European people love Iran. He also mentioned that other Iranian groups will be invited to this great meeting.

Then Prof. Rosivall, former president of Semmelweis University and an honorary member of alumni office, greeted Prof. Bahadori and the accompanying delegation, and he asserted the importance of Alumni and its role in development of science and its enormous capacity in development of the university and society. He also referred to many similarities between Iranian and Hungarian society, and emphasized the historical connections between two countries. Also, he hoped that the activities of this office would lead to the promotion of the university and alumni.

In this meeting, a number of participants discussed about organizing such a meeting more effectively in the future.

A Meeting with Ambassador of Iran

In another part of this meeting, Prof. Bahadori and the accompanying delegation met with Rajabi Yazdi, Iranian Ambassador in Hungary, and they discussed the development of TUMS academic cooperation. In addition, this meeting was held in the presence of Prof. Bahadori, the president of Alumni Office, Dr. Jafarian, Prof. Rosivall, Dr. Nima Rezaei, Professor of Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Founder of USERN, Dr. Nafisi, Head of school of Medicine, Dr. Gatmiri, member of desk for international cooperation between TUMS and Hungary, Dr. Mirzahosseini, TUMS alumni and local manager of Avicenna academy in Hungary.
