In sixth annual seminar on professionalism, the constancy factors of professional commitment in the field of health are reviewed
Dr. Seyed Mansour Gatmiri, head of the university's alumni relations office, while presenting a report from the last meeting, said: "The issue of professional commitment is related to the role and duties of members of the health sector, including doctors, nurses, etc., as well as the duties of top and supporting organizations." . This profession enters the life of its employees in an all-round way, This all-encompassing influence frequently places members of the profession in a position to prioritize the interests of patients over their own. On the other hand, society has a special social position for the members of this profession. Since the health profession deals with people's lives and their health, society has given this profession a special place.
The second meeting of the scientific committee of the sixth annual seminar of professional commitment was held.
At the beginning of this meeting, which was held on Saturday, October 15, 2022, in the presence of the members of the scientific committee of the professional commitment seminar and held in the alumni relations office, Dr. Seyed Mansour Gatmiri, head of the university alumni relations office,
While presenting a report from the last meeting, he said: The issue of professional commitment is related to the role and duties of the members of the health sector, including doctors, nurses, etc., as well as the duties of top and supporting organizations. This profession enters the life of its employees in an all-round way and affects it. This all-encompassing influence frequently places members of the profession in a position to prioritize the interests of patients over their own. On the other hand, society has a special social position for the members of this profession. Since the health profession deals with people's lives and their health, society has given this profession a special place.
He added: This special and respectable position has been considered for this profession to compensate for the hardships caused by working in this profession. Therefore, despite the fact that to a large extent this profession does not fit with the material rewards intended for it, but throughout history in different societies, these hardships have been somehow compensated. Those who enter this profession prefer the interests of their contacts to their personal interests, and in front of the society, this profession has a respectable role, and the upper and guiding social systems must play a special role in relation to the members and individuals of this profession in order to It is possible to provide a competent and high quality service to the audience.
Dr. Gatmiri continued: If we focus on the characteristics of the members of the profession and expect them to endure all the crises and pressures caused by this profession as a saint, it will lead to exhaustion and fatigue of the professionals, and the role of professionalism in relation to the guiding systems and If the support systems, including insurance, the Ministry of Health and the medical system organization, become weak, the perspective of professional commitment will be limited and we will face many shortcomings.
He said: special attention should be paid to the professionalism and supporting organizations so that the profession is not exposed to harm through the monitoring of the profession by the supporting organizations.
Dr. Gatmiri added in another part of his speech that the other point is that instead of supporting organizations in the implementation of the role they should play in front of this profession and its employees and having a supporting role, for example, in tariffs, it acts in such a way that the hardships of this the profession should be compensated, taxes, incentives and support policies should be discounted, but unfortunately, we see that this role has been reversed in recent years, and these laws are even more stringently applied to commercial professions, or the tariffs are very inappropriate compared to the real and international tariffs, or In taxes, instead of applying incentive and discount policies, the opposite is done. Unfortunately, we faced challenges in this profession, and for this reason, during the last five years, we tried to convey some truths to the top systems through this seminar.
In the last meeting, three issues were proposed, one is the issue of immigration and Psychology, the psychological foundations of immigration and the considerations of top laws that have been debated in this case, some friends were in favor and some were against. The second title is the continuation of compliance with medical professional commitment in health services in the current situation with the subheadings of the reasons for the reduction of professional commitment in working groups, academic staff and graduates, the impact of factors outside the health system on the reduction of professional commitment, compliance with professional commitment in social crises, the role of social capital In the observance of professional commitment and the role of professional commitment in the socialization of the health system, the role and position of professional commitment in the impact of empowering and maintaining human resources in the health system and the third title was professional commitment in social crises, especially in the current conditions of society. Today, we will try to choose one of these cases as the main topic of the sixth professional commitment seminar.
According to this report, Dr. Nikzad Isazadeh, the head of the Center for Medicine, Quran and Hadith Research and a member of the scientific committee of the 6th seminar on professional commitment, said: In the previous meeting, I chose professional commitment and social mission from the proposed topics, because this topic includes the following topics: It emphasizes the professional commitment of doctors, paramedics and students who are working in this field, and that the original title is maintained.
He added: The term social mission and its generality includes immigration, social crises and the role of systems. Also, the last title, which is the continuity of medical professional commitment, seems to be a partial title, that is, the word continuity makes it partial and one-dimensional. The word "social mission" itself can include professional commitment in the current situation, if it includes the social sphere and all the conditions of a society, while the current situation was and is a transitory stage, and according to the general perception of the society, I don't like it very much. The current situation considering that these laws are more detailed than the social titles and can be considered as subsections be placed
Dr. Isazadeh continued: My suggestion is that professional commitment and social mission should be from an extra-religious point of view (that is, from the point of view of different humanitarian schools and from the point of view of the medical field in different schools) and from an internal religious point of view (that is, to look at different religions, especially Islam). And the issue should be examined conceptually from the perspective of verses and narrations and Islamic thinkers.
This report indicates that then Dr. Shahin Akhundzadeh the professor of Tehran University of Medical Sciences and a member of the scientific committee of the 6th professional commitment seminar said: In the current situation, talking about immigration may not be the right time because the desire to emigrate has increased.
He added: the title that Dr. Isazadeh raised is very general and does not have a specific format. This topic has been talked about for many years in this university. In the current situation, it seems that the medical community does not recognize its responsibility, for example, resident to servant in The hospital says to close the clinic! Is it possible to close medical services?!
Or they say to close the morning report! Is it possible? Morning report in teaching hospital means treatment. This shows that some assistants and interns do not even know the most basic rules and regulations related to professional commitment. Some members of the profession do not know his behavior in this special situation. In my opinion, the format of the issue raised by colleagues is good, but we are very inexperienced, while the discussion on that issue will lead the medical community to reach a conclusion.
In the following, Dr. Seyed Hassan Emami Razavi, a professor of the Faculty of Medicine of Tehran University of Medical Sciences and a member of the scientific committee of the 6th Professional Commitment Seminar, said: In my opinion, the words of Dr. Iszadeh do not express social mission. Is the purpose of saying social mission social accountability or social responsibility? Because the definitions must be clear.
He added: A person who has a professional commitment must be responsible for his community. Social authenticity is the same as accountability and social responsibility. In my opinion, in the last seminar, we talked about social accountability, which was a very important issue, and accountability is always one of the components in the discussion of professional commitment. The topic proposed by professor Nouriala, I accepted his suggestion and said that while this topic is very important, but since a series of discussions should be presented, this topic can be held as a panel.
In this meeting, Dr. Davali then said: In this seminar, the topics should be discussed in the best way because it has both domestic and international coverage.
He suggested that an interview be conducted with professors who, despite having suitable living and working conditions abroad, did not emigrate from Iran and are engaged in service in Iran, and be cited as part of the discussions in the seminar.
The title of national ties, professional obligations was one of Dr. Ebrahim Razmpa's suggestions for naming the title of the sixth seminar on professional obligations.
Then, Dr. Seyed Mohammadreza Seydahmadian, the secretary of the relations office with the students, said: In the current situation, problems should be raised first and then solutions should be presented. During the riots, some injured people were brought to our hospital, protesters and some injured policemen, There were also among them that both groups were treated and this showed that. There is no difference for the captive people, the police and the protester, and treatment should be done for everyone. But we have to see what is the instruction of professional commitment in such cases? We need to work on professional commitment behaviours to make them operational.
Further, Dr. Ahmad Ali Noorbala, a professor of the Department of Psychiatry and a member of the scientific committee of the professional commitment seminar, said that there are crises in all countries and said: sometimes family, tribal, religious and economic crises occur, which is very complicated. Crises are not only political, we have not understood the UN's definition of crisis correctly. In social crises, doctors have obligations that they may not know the whole framework.
He added: Whatever happens in a country, doctors do not have holidays and this is one of the principles of doctors' commitment that patients of any religion and profession should be treated.
Also, managers and officials should ensure the welfare of doctors and patients, and decision-makers should be active in the current situation and provide solutions.
I say as a citizen that we don't even know there is a crisis in the country right now with the current situation! We have to make it clear that we can help the managers of the health system with clear and sufficient clarification.
Then Dr. Mohammad Jalili, a professor of the Department of Emergency Medicine, a member of the University's Medical Education Department, and a member of the Scientific Committee of the 6th Professional Commitment Seminar, also said: Among the things that have been said, Dr. Emami Razavi's proposal is more comprehensive and the goal is to bring up the issue in a more general way. I choose the title of professional commitment and individual professional and social requirements.
He continued: Compliance with professional obligations has requirements, not all of which are related to the individual and are introduced in the social discussion. The issue of manpower maintenance and related issues can also be mentioned. In the professional discussion, it is also possible to discuss the role of the profession, and the organization of the medical system, supervisory and top organizations, and supporting organizations.
In the end, after summarizing the opinions raised, Dr. Gatmiri said: According to the opinions of the majority of the respected members of the scientific committee of the sixth seminar on professional commitment, the general title of the seminar will be: constancy of professional commitment in the field of health, and the topics of infrastructure,
Individual, social and organizational requirements are selected as sub-headings of the panel. In this way, the sub-panels of the seminar are as follows:
Panel 1: Professional Commitment in Crisis
Panel II: Individual imperatives in sustaining professional commitment
The third panel: the role of organizations in the constancy of professional commitment
Fourth panel: The role and modification of infrastructures in professional commitment are determined.
The officials of the panels will also select and introduce the speakers and members of the panels in the upcoming meetings.
