         In 4^th USERN congress that was held in Budapest Hungary 8^th – 10^th November, Dr. Gatmiri lectured about Iranian model of kidney transplantation from medullar death specimen instead of none-relative specimen.

         Dr. Gatmiri assistant of internal diseases group in Tehran University of Medical Sciences, noted to this point that donated organ capacity is very low around the world and added:’ advanced disorder of kidney, necessity of other treatments like hemodialysis, peritoneum dialysis, kidney transplantation have been very much around the world and waiting list of patients have flourished and unfortunately, every day some of patients die.

         He added:’ this limitation and long waiting list will cause not only bereavement of high quality life but also will cause enhancement of life costs for example persons in waiting list in USA have been enhanced annually’.

         Dr. Gatmiri added:’ kidney transplantation in comparison with dialysis is better and donate a longer life to patients’.

         Iran also has 10 million chronic renal patients and more than 10 thousands advanced renal disorder patients and 30 years ago, every one patient from 1000 patients could be treated and many patients died for this disease and unfortunately this list has been enhanced for next years.

          He added first dialysis center was established in 1974 and 1^st kidney transplantation has been done in 1967 but until 1985, 112 kidney transplantations have been done.

         Health ministry could dispatch some patients for kidney transplantation from relative donator in 1985 but this surgery was too expensive and many patients have been cued for years.

         In that year, two kidney transplantation centers have been established and through 2 years, 274 transplantation surgeries have been done.

         Dr. Gatmiri vice chancellor of alumni office added that board of government approved governmental gift for non-relative donation of kidney in 1997 and until now many surgeries have been done but there has been a serious problem in that year, rich men journeyed to Iran for kidney transplant and this is commercialization for this surgery and it’s a great problem and after that ‘joint nationality between donator and receptor’ law was approved. In many provinces organ transplant unit, has been established and donators have been enhanced and moral problems have been reduced and at now statistics of kidney transplantation have been enhanced this year, %55 kidney transplantation is done with medullar death specimens but in USA and Canada use non-relative donators for this surgery.
