According to the 2022 report of Europe's subject ranking system, Tehran University of Medical Sciences was ranked 12th in pharmacy, 56th in public health, 61st in ophthalmology, 93rd in nursing, 65th in medical engineering, 60th in food engineering, and 280th in biological sciences. Is.
Also, this university has achieved rank 148 in clinical neurology, rank 136 in dentistry, rank 130 in immunology, rank 137 in infectious diseases, rank 245 in neuroscience, rank 209 in molecular biology and genetics, rank 222 in oncology, rank 131 in Medical sciences, ranked 388 in nanoscience, ranked 178 in pediatrics, and ranked 280 in surgery.
Therefore, according to the report, Tehran University of Medical Sciences is among the top 500 universities in the world with the mentioned ranks, and it has taken the first place in the country in 17 fields.
This system has evaluated 2,500 leading scientific institutions of the world in 79 subject areas based on six criteria of number of articles, citations, total scientific productions, impact of articles, impact of citations and international collaborations.
The measure of the number of articles includes the measurement of articles published in journals that are listed in the first, second and third quartiles of the Web of Science database in terms of journal impact factor. The weight of this index is 21%, and articles with more than a thousand authors are not evaluated.
The basis for calculating the citation criteria is the total number of citations received during the years 2016-2020 for articles published during the same period in journals that are listed in the first, second, and third quartiles in terms of the impact factor of the journal, and the weight assigned to it is also 21 percent.
The criterion of the total scientific productions or the total number of documents with an index weight of 10% also shows the stability and continuity of the scientific output of universities, and the total documents mean all scientific resources including conference articles, review articles, documents, letters, discussions and reviews and magazine articles in the period The time is 2016-2020, which were extracted from the Web of Science database.
The measure of impact of articles or scientific productivity examines the number of publications in 24 subject areas between 2019-2020. The mentioned criterion measures the scientific output of universities on a global scale and the weight of this index is 18%.
The purpose of the citation effect criterion as another index under investigation of this system with a weight of 15% is to create a balance between the scientific productivity of universities and the amount of their publications.
The criterion of international cooperation also examined the total number of articles published in cooperation with foreign universities in the period of 2016-2020, and the weight of this index was set at 15 percent.
