Tehran University of Medical Sciences became a member of the consortium of medical institutions of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization

Dr. Mohammad Hossein Ayati, the international vice president of the university, announced the membership of Tehran University of Medical Sciences in the Medical Institution Consortium of Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

According to the public relations report of the Tehran University of Medical Sciences, International Vice President, announcing this news, he said: At the end of the 21st meeting of the heads of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which was held in September 2022 in the capital of Tajikistan, the heads of the eight main member countries of the organization expressed their agreement with They announced the conversion of the membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran from an observer member to a main member and signed the related documents.

The international vice-chancellor of the university added: Following this important event for the country at the international level, Tehran University of Medical Sciences started measures aimed at becoming a member of the newly established consortium of medical institutions of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (MIC), which fortunately came to fruition some time ago, and Tehran University This year, as the only Iranian university, it became a member of this consortium.

Pointing out that the consortium of medical institutions of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization operates on the basis of further promotion of trust and mutual benefit, equality, respect for different civilizations and mutual development, Dr. Ayati said: this complex is also to serve medical education, medical and health cooperation and The development of a healthy global community has been established among some of the most important universities in the member countries.

He stated: The said consortium provides an effective mechanism and a broad cooperation platform for the member institutions, and while paying attention to the development of health, it takes steps in the direction of improving the health care system of the countries.

The international vice president of the university emphasized that the cooperation among the institutions and universities that are members of the consortium includes joint educational and research activities such as student exchange, research projects, academic publications, university conferences and providing expert guidance, adding: this is while the exchange of experiences of universities and scientific centres in the field of basic and clinical medicine and cooperation in establishing joint medical centres are also considered.

Dr. Ayati mentioned the presence of himself and Ali Sayadi, the expert in charge of international relations of the International Vice-Chancellor, as representatives of Tehran University of Medical Sciences at the first meeting of the consortium of medical institutions of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on Thursday, November 10 of this year, and stated: In this international gathering, there were many feedbacks. We received a positive response from more than 25 universities and scientific institutes for the membership of Tehran University of Medical Sciences in the consortium.

He added: It was also an opportunity to announce our happiness about the membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the university's membership in the Consortium of Medical Institutions, and to make a comprehensive introduction of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, its existing capacities and capabilities, and the international activities of this complex.

Dr. Ayaiti noted: The university also announced its readiness for educational, research and technological cooperation with the member universities of the consortium.

Explaining that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was established in 2001 for multilateral cooperation, and now Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, India and Iran are members of this organization.
