In this meeting, while presenting a report on the establishment process and activities of the Alumni office and Professor Bahadri's Scientific and Cultural Foundation, It was emphasized on attracting donors and new resources, prioritizing the problems and needs of students and benefiting from the experiences of pioneer university professors in attracting health donors.
According to the public relations report of the University Alumni office, in this meeting that was held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 in the council hall of the Alumni office, Dr. Seyed Mansour Getmiri, the head of the Alumni office, while welcoming the guests, said: "Currently, only Tehran University of Medical Sciences, which officially has an alumni office in the country. The basis of the work of this office is the two-way communication with the university graduates and benefiting from their ability to promote the university and also help the graduates. This office has been established since 2006.
He added: Our goal in holding this meeting is to get to know more about the methods and processes that lead to attracting donors. This office and scientific and cultural foundation of professor Bahadri has a communication role between hospitals, colleges and research centres with benefactors. We do not only need the help of donors in the field of education and medical services, but also in research.
Dr. Getmiri continued: Many far-sighted benefactors have made large investments in the field of research. One of our goals in attracting donors is to encourage students to have supporters who take care of their problems and issues.
He called the holding of professional commitment seminars and Yalda conference as one of the most important activities of this office and added: the establishment of the professor's house in the affiliated hospitals of the university and the establishment of Professor Bahadri's scientific and cultural foundation were other activities of this office.
The director of professor Bahadri Foundation stated that, because this office is a governmental organization, there were some challenges and problems in attracting resources from foreign scholars. Because their gifts and donations went to the university's account and were spent in other places, and this issue was not accepted by the benefactors. Considering this situation, we thought of establishing a non-governmental organization and started a foundation with the help of friends, which was named Professor Bahadri's scientific and cultural foundation, and so far, considerable donations have been received from the students and spent in the university.
He added: "We have maintained our relationship with the students by setting up student communication offices in all faculties under the management of one of the veteran professors in each faculty." In addition, centres have also been established in colleges that hold annual celebrations and conferences to learn about each other's charitable activities, such as building a school, etc.
Dr. Getmiri continued: With the expansion of the activities of the alumni office, the international branch has also started its activities with the cooperation of representatives in Budapest. In addition to expanding the communication network with the university graduates who live in Europe, this branch cooperates with the university and other Universities in joint activities.
He added: Professor Rozival, the former president of Semmelweis University, who currently has valuable cooperation with the European Society of Nephrology and the International Society of Nephrology, is also an associate professor at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. During his visits to Tehran University of Medical Sciences, he got to know Prof. Bahadri and his interest in Prof. Bahadri and the university caused him to become an honorary member of the University's Alumni office.
He added: Another thing that I have to raise is about the benefactors who had a lot of help in the field of science, research and education. Of course, the benefactors' opinion is that Tehran University of Medical Sciences, like some universities, should set up a medical science supporter's foundation and hold various and frequent meetings to deal with the existing issues and shortcomings, and we hope that great things will be done in this regard.
He explained about the donations of Professor Bahadri's Scientific and Cultural Foundation to the dormitories: Many donations from Professor Bahadri's Scientific and Cultural Foundation were given to equip the dormitories, and we hope to benefit from such assistance in improving the dormitory space.
Emphasizing the presence of benefactors among students, Dr. Ebrahimi said: benefactors should be among the students or visit the dormitories, of course, we should not invite them just to attract help. During the time that I have assumed the position of this vice president, I feel that the students think that they do not have a guardian, like the student vice president, the governor, etc., do not think about them. Unfortunately, on the one hand, we are worried about the immigration of students, and on the other hand, we do not think of a suitable solution to solve this problem so that these funds do not leave the country easily.
He emphasized that the prominent presence of the Foundation's supporters, representatives of donors and many people who help this group of people will encourage the students.
Then Dr. Hosseini Tabar, head of the management of non-governmental organizations and health charities, stated: On the 26th February of this year, a donations conference will be held in Tehran University of Medical Sciences, and 25 to 30 Iranian donors living abroad will also be invited to this conference. In this regard, in a meeting a few days ago with Dr. Ameri, the director general of Iranians living abroad, We hope to use benefactors' help in solving the problems of the country to attract good.
Further, Mirzaei, one of the colleagues of the Student Vice-Chancellor, while suggesting that clips of donations and collaborations of benefactors be shown at the benefactors' conference, said: for example, if a benevolent doctor has photos or videos from his student days and has been involved in benevolent activities after graduation This conference should be used as an incentive for students and other doctors to do good work. In this regard, we have taken help from the international vice president of the university to introduce doctors and professors in the international field so that we can benefit from their help.
He continued: Another thing that I have to raise is about the benefactors who had a lot of help in the field of science, research and education. Of course, the benefactors' opinion is that Tehran University of Medical Sciences, like some universities, should set up a medical science supporter's foundation and hold various and frequent meetings to deal with the existing issues and shortcomings, and we hope that great things will be done in this regard.
Dr. Mirzaei added: Another important issue in the student field is the issue of nutrition and the student kitchen, which does not meet the students' food needs because the capacity is very low, which causes the quality of the food to decline. Don't spoil the students' honor with poor quality food.
This report indicates that at the end of the meeting, it was decided to have a regular cooperation between the vice-chancellor of cultural students of the university, philanthropic affairs and alumni office in order to attract donations from benefactors.
